Zoned, no ducts

Ductless Mini-Split Systems for Medford Homes

Heating and cooling zone by zone for houses that were never built with ductwork, planned to fit your budget.

Zoned Comfort for Houses Built Around Radiators

A large share of Medford homes heat with hot-water radiators or electric baseboard and have no ductwork at all. Adding ducts to a two-family or an older colonial means opening ceilings and closets, which adds cost without adding comfort. A ductless mini-split system avoids that. An outdoor unit connects to one or more indoor heads through a compact line set that passes through an exterior wall. Each head heats in winter, cools in summer and has its own control, so every room or zone runs at the temperature its occupants want. That makes ductless a practical choice for two-families where each unit needs separate control, for finished third floors that overheat in July, for additions and for rooms at the far end of a radiator loop. Budget control comes from sizing. We calculate each room's heat loss and choose a head that matches it, rather than putting a large unit in every space. Head locations are planned for airflow and appearance, line sets are covered outside, and the outdoor unit is raised above snow. Each head, line set and control is listed on your proposal, and listed equipment may qualify for Mass Save incentives as well as 0% HEAT Loan financing.

Included in a Ductless Proposal

One zone or every room, each proposal includes these.

  • Per-room sizing

Each head selected from that room's heat-loss figure, not a default size.

  • Head type by room

Wall-mounted, ceiling cassette or floor console, depending on layout and preference.

  • Separate controls per unit

Two-families and triple-deckers planned so each household controls its own space.

  • Covered line runs

Refrigerant and drain lines routed carefully and enclosed inside and outside.

  • Elevated outdoor unit

Set high on a bracket or stand so drifts never bury it, clear of walkways.

  • Controls orientation

Modes, schedules, setpoints and filter cleaning explained for each head.

Ductless Project Steps

  1. Zone review

We identify which rooms need heating or cooling help and measure each one.

  2. Itemized layout

Number of heads, locations, price and any rebate or loan figure listed in the proposal.

  3. Install and orientation

Heads and lines installed, the system tested, and each control explained.

Why Our Ductless Plans Stay on Budget

  • No oversized heads

Room-level sizing avoids paying for capacity a small bedroom will never use.

  • Exterior kept orderly

Covered, straight line runs so the outside of the house looks finished.

  • Every head on paper

Each indoor unit and its cost appear in the proposal before the work is scheduled.

  • No ducts needed
  • Per-room control
  • Covered line sets
  • Each head itemized

Which Rooms Need Attention First?

Tell our office which rooms run too hot or too cold. We will estimate how many heads it may take and outline a layout.
